Description

A celebration of African identity

Hair and headwear play a crucial role in black history, representing a sacred cultural and spiritual symbol. Throughout Africa, hairstyles conveyed personal and cultural information, such as marital status, age, religion, wealth, and societal rank. Styles, like ornate braids and special headdresses, have deep cultural roots. Today, Black women continue the tradition, using hairstyles as a personal expression and a reflection of the evolving Black culture. The movement of empowerment and change, particularly for women, is symbolized by the “crown,” representing strength, courage, dedication, diplomacy, and determination.
